Introducing "Art-Ass"

I discovered a haphazardly rendered Equidae which evolved into my own "Art-Ass" character serving as my spiritual muse during a challenging time.

“Art-ass" (a variation of “artist”) became a playful and constructive outlet to express my frustrations with being a contemporary artist.

Chromatic Explorations

The explorative reactionary abstract layering of multiple materials and active mark-making is the core focus of this work.

These abstract paintings have irregular edges that serve as both a frame and emphasize the language of abstraction.

Materiality & Systems

During my process-based exploration, I employ intertwining linear systems and geometric forms that interplay on the surface and sides of the birch wood panels.

This series of paintings possess both materiality and immateriality; with subject matter ranging from tangible imagery to the nonphysical representation of thoughts and feelings that harmonize to create a medley of texture, color, and shape.

Textural Surfaces

I build up the surface spontaneously then I collaborate with the abstractly occurring line-markings, repetitious forms, and material-based patterns to set up subsequent layers. Each layer informs and inspires the next.

My intuitive and reactionary process paired with my adventurous use of various mediums results in highly textural surfaces.

Hidden Profiles

My artwork hypothesizes how submersion in the natural environment affects one's biochemistry, interpersonal conflicts, and overall wellbeing.

For example, (Self) Worth explores the impermanence of personal value within the confines of a social media-based self-promoting society in contrast to the longevity of inherent virtues.

Home & Cloudscapes

Both Home and Cloudscapes series examines universal connectivity free from the barriers of language. The shelter is both physically and psychologically a human bond.

I view a cloud-filled sky as a happy place, full of infinite expressions - encouraging hope and possibility for all humanity.

Fluid With Wood Grain

Through my ‘Olo' series, I conceptualize an intimate experience and how environmental elements, influences, and time impact and alter that connection.

An outline of the portraits, identified by a single red line, is traced and transformed from one panel to the next in a series. Each new translation is manipulated by the natural wood grain of the birch panel surface: dictating the placement of the red outline and distorting the once recognizable portraits.

Women

The Pin-up is a playful character that I used to illustrate desire vs reality; intertwining responsibility and daydreaming.

The Women's portfolio also pays homage to the females from the board game Clue. Can you find and correctly guess the association of icons?
